Lee Blaisdell, who had been shooting SCTA racing before Hot Rod Magazine was founded helped out with photos for the newborn magazine. Bob was mostly the business manager, and Robert became the sales guy and photographer. The first Hot Rod Magazine was printed in 10,000 copies. Robert had previously worked with Bob at the Hollywood Publicity Associates as a P.R. Bob Lindsay was a confounder of the magazine. A lot of other people were involved in the process, but Robert had the idea and was responsible for establishing the magazine. Petersen that had the idea about starting Hot Rod Magazine. There were also Throttle Magazine that was published from January to December 1941. Veda Orr was also running the SCTA Newsletter that she sent out during the war to GIs telling them what was happening with other hot rodders. SCTA had an event program, but it wasn't a magazine. Īt the time Hot Rod Magazine was founded there weren't any other Hot Rod related magazines published. The magazine sold ads to whoever wanted to display as a vendor and hawking copies on the steps outside the Armory. ![]() The very first Hot Rod Magazine was created as the program for the first annual Hot Rod Exposition at the National Guard Armory in Los Angeles, California. Hot Rod Magazine was launched by Trend in January 1948. This card was advertised for sale on eBay in May of 2023.
